Depth
4 min
for undeground assets, a depth below ground level is set, displayed, and taken into account for length calculations this are configured in the technical parameters there are two ways to configure this the default depth of an asset, applied everywhere unless otherwise specified a table of layers, where a depth is assigned to each layer being crossed if at any point there are multiple competing depth values, the maximum is chosen trenched assets along each point of an option, the depth is subtracted from the terrain elevation as such, the depth of trenched assets constantly follows the elevation of the terrain, keeping the depth at a constant level in the example below, the default depth is set at 20m, and there is one layer around 13,000m chainage whose depth is set at 5m trenchless assets (hdd, auger bore, microtunnel) once underground, trenchless assets stay at a constant elevation below ground, rather than following the terrain elevation and staying at a constant depth the required depth is calculated by finding the lowest terrain elevation along the trenchless section, making sure that the minimum depth requirement is met for this location, then staying at this elevation for the rest of the section see below for an example where the minimum depth requirement was 5m example multiple assets
