Iterating on a Corridor
5 min
as a project evolves and is understood better, your initial corridor may need to be updated a corridor can be adjusted for environmental factors, regulatory changes, or new design priorities at any point throughout a project in optioneer, corridors are polygons to iterate polygons, you need to duplicate the polygon make your edits integrate the new version into your workflow we'll walk through those steps below 1️⃣ duplicate the corridor as a project feature to start, begin by duplicating your polygon navigate to the results library and locate the case containing your desired polygon click the icon to expand the list of results click the ⋮ icon beside the polygon you want to export > duplicate to project features optioneer navigates you back to the map where you can name the duplicated polygon and give it a description, e g cor iteration 1 a to b 'adjusting the corridor to avoid a new no go estate ' find your duplicated corridor within data > polygons 2️⃣ make your edits now you have a copy of the polygon to edit from data > polygons , hover over the duplicated polygon > ⋮ icon > edit the editor window appears within the map on your map, click and drag the 🔴 red vertices to make larger adjustments to your polygon click and drag the 🟠 orange vertices to make additional vertices the accuracy slider adjusts the number of vertices you can adjust higher accuracy makes the line more rounded and adds more vertices name your iterated polygon and give it a description, if needed click save to save your edits your new polygon is automatically added to the polygons tab within data ✂️ cutting holes in your polygon at any point during the above steps, you can also cut holes in your polygon to create no go zones, areas where routes will not be considered in the editor window for your active polygon, click cut holes clicking on the map will create a point, and subsequent clicks will add more points to your polygon double click to end the process when finished, select save this process overwrites the previous polygon 3️⃣ integrate your polygon now you are ready to use your newly iterated polygon open the setup tab and select the case you'd like to run (generation, evaluation or corridor generation) complete the initial steps to set up the case , including selecting the desired points or lines within select corridors, select your newly iterated polygon from the drop down note you cannot use the select corridors step within a site selection case continue with your workflow 🎉 congratulations, you now how a more optimised corridor for route generation to develop a route, you'll want to follow our best practices for option iteration
