Evaluating Route options
2 min
while optioneer offers industry leading capabilities for generating corridors, routes and sites using advanced algorithms, there is much to be gained from simply evaluating potential routes route evaluation in optioneer is the process of analyzing an existing polygon with an configuration that includes your gis data routing preferences set in a configuration you can evaluate an existing route against a configuration that is provided by a subject matter expert, a contractor, a community group, or an interesting route provided by the optioneer generation phase that you want to adjust and assess the impacts of that adjustment this will apply the exact same processing and evaluation that optioneer uses to scrutinize routes during the generation phase, so you can compare your options against a common baseline check out the steps for doing this below step description image 1 go to the create options window 2 on the right hand toolbar, select evaluate > routes 3 select route(s) for evaluation by clicking on the (+) button note you can evaluate lines in bulk β a handy feature for when you are looking at more than one scenario! optioneer will evaluate each line individually, despite the fact they are run in bulk hit confirm features once you have selected your lines 4 pick a corridor to optimize within optional if you want to be absolutely certain you kept your lines within the intended spatial bounds, select a corridor for your evaluation β optioneer will flag it if your route is outside of the intended bounds 5 pick the relevant configuration this will tell optioneer how to prioritise its evaluation of routes note selecting correct configuration is crucial at this stage to make sure you asses/compare the routes against correct criteria not sure what to do? see how to set docid 973cyqnrcvodbtxxtganv in your configuration note at this point you will see " no go zones " on the map, which have been defined within the configuration check your lines at this stage to make sure they aren't sitting within a no go zone β otherwise optioneer won't be able to assess your routes! 6 the last step is to give your evaluation case both a name and description the cases will all start with the case name, followed by " " and the name of the selected route, eg if you name the case " evaluationcase123 " and select routes " line1 " and " line2 ", the evaluated routes will automatically be named " evaluationcase123 line1 ", " evaluationcase123 line2 ", respectively you will get an email notification when the case completes and the evaluated routes will then be available within the results library nice one! π it can take up to 30 minutes for your evaluation result to be returned, though often takes under 10 minutes you can check on its status (pending, running, complete or failed) via the project home tab, the left most tab along the top toolbar, and in the case library alternatively, use this time to make a cup of tea or coffee βοΈ below is a click path for how you evaluate a line in optioneer when your case is complete, you can begin analysing your results as is demonstrated in docid\ kk8athuah2mfgsgiar7qg !
